Design Brief

  • illy was seeking to re-establish its products and services in the U.S. market. The founders had a dream of “providing the best coffee in the world” and they intended to achieve this by exploring ways to promote the brand in the marketplace through new product development.

  • Design a personal coffee maker that competes favorably with other products in the $300-$600 range.

The illy Duetto is a beautifully crafted coffee machine that seamlessly blends options for espresso and pour-over coffee into one elegant design. With dual-brewing capabilities, it caters to the tastes of both espresso aficionados and pour-over enthusiasts. Featuring a sleek, modern aesthetic that reflects illy's signature style, the Duetto incorporates advanced brewing technology for precise temperature and extraction control, ensuring each cup delivers a rich, balanced flavor. This machine embodies illy’s commitment to a premium coffee experience.
